Work with the power off whenever possible. When a furnace does not work it may be caused by problems with the furnace or the thermostat. Before troubleshooting your thermostat, check to see if all filters are clean and all hoses to and from the units themselves are free of wear. If these are not causing problems, then it is time to look at specific thermostat issues and possible solutions. Your thermostat could have aging wiring that is faulty or the transformer may require replacing. A thermostat may need cleaning to eliminate erratic operation. Accumulated dust is a common culprit. First, you should have a small paintbrush, a screwdriver, and a voltmeter. The anticipator is a small metal tab positioned in front of an arcing printed scale. Give it a light push in both directions.

But the reality is: Just think about it: Wiring that is at best, complicated, and at worst, dangerous.
Jan 12, · I am attempting to replace a line voltage thermostat for my electric baseboard heater. I had a few questions, please bear with me: The old thermostat has screw terminals where the wires attached (photo #1), but the new thermostat (photo #2) has wires directly attached.
Super Thermostat I have two heat pumps to heat and cool my house. The house layout is such that there is no path from one part of the house to another for a big old air duct and two of them offer redundancy in case of failure. I have really nice programmable thermostats on the systems that can shut them off during the peak period but there are still a few things that would be nice to have. Ability for each of them to know when the other one is on to prevent both of them from coming on at the same time, or restrict each thermostat to a specific period of time so they don’t overlap each other.
Be able to adjust both of them from the same spot so you don’t have to run back and forth. Be able to tell if either of them are on and what they are doing when wondering what is eating up the power. Keep visitors from playing with the temperature when they think they’re getting too hot or cold. Sounds like a job for a couple of Web enabled thermostats doesn’t it? Enter another Arduino, this time a thermostat.
This collection of strange things wired together are the components of the thermostat. Upper left is the Arduino stack with the Arduino topped by an ethernet shield and a prototype board holding a power supply and control relays.

Installation can be tricky Verdict A remote sensor lets the Ecobee3 smart thermostat monitor the temperature in more than one room in your house. And, because my thermostat is located closer to my living room, as soon as it senses that my abode has warmed to 65 degrees, it shuts off the heat, leaving me shivering under my covers. The Ecobee3 thermostat has a clever solution to that problem:
Apr 05, · I want to wire a line-voltage thermostat with four wires into a box with two wires which held a dial-type line-voltage (v) thermostat. The thermostat you are trying to hook up requires a hot and neutral to power it ( volts) and to switch the hot going to the ‘load’. In my line voltage thermostat box there are 3 cables 6 wires one 5/5.
The display lets us know what the temperature is in the house. The display tells us what the desired settings are including letting us know the set point setting the temperature. Some displays give us the time and the newer modern displays show us family photos like a screensaver on our computer. But what happens when the display is not there or there is a blank thermostat display or no display on the thermostat? Is it a bad thermostat or something else that caused the display to disappear?
Blank Display on Thermostat Problem — Types of Thermostats First, we need to distinguish between the different types of thermostats available on the market. There are thermostats that are battery powered only and need to have fresh batteries replaced from time to time. It is a possibility that your thermostat is this type of thermostat. You will notice the display starting to fade a little when the batteries are getting low.
Furthermore, some of the battery powered thermostats have a battery indicator on the display and some do not.
Replacing Thermostat for Electric Baseboard Heater
My wall thermostat is hot to the touch. What should I do? We recommend replacing the thermostat. If it feels hot, it may not be working efficiently, which actually decreases its accuracy.

Using a small amount of compressed air as their power source, Super Air Amplifiers pull in large volumes of surrounding air to produce high volume, high velocity outlet flows through a fixed air gap. Quiet, efficient Air Amplifiers will create output flows up to 25 times their consumption rate. Both the vacuum and discharge ends of the Air Amplifier can be ducted, making them ideal for drawing fresh air from another location, or moving smoke and fumes away.
Also effective to cool, clean and dry parts or processes. Force and flow for the Adjustable Air Amplifier is changed by turning the exhaust end with the knurled ring loose to open or close the continuous air gap. When desired performance is obtained, the knurled ring can be tightened to lock the flow at that setting. Custom materials, mounting options flanges , and sizes available.
High Temperature Air Amplifier and Accessories High Temperature Air Amplifier and Accessories Utilizing the Coanda effect, a basic principle of fluidics, Air Amplifiers become a simple, low cost way to circulate air, move smoke, fumes, and light materials. Using a small amount of compressed air as their power source, High Temperature Air Amplifiers pull in large volumes of surrounding air to produce high volume, high velocity outlet flows through a fixed air gap.
Designed with a variable flow trigger, they are able to produce different force values from the same nozzle simply by pulling the trigger. The ergonomic design keeps the hand in a comfortable position and incorporates a large trigger that permits operation with one or more fingers. The durable cast aluminum body is suited for rugged industrial use and includes a convenient hanger hook for easy storage.

Thermostat provides line voltage control of a radiant cable, electric baseboard and resistive- The heater should start to warm up within two minutes. If not, contact a qualified electrician to check the thermostat and heater. CTA,B LINE VOLTAGE ELECTRIC HEAT THERMOSTATS EFŠ1 4.
This thermostat is designed for a system with five wires — the wire terminations are marked as follows: W – This wire comes from the relay that turns on the heating system. Y – This wire comes from the relay that turns on the cooling system. G – This wire comes from the relay that turns on the fan. The two transformers provide the power the thermostat uses to switch on the various relays.
The relays in turn switch on the power to the fan and the air conditioner or furnace. Let’s see how this power flows through the thermostat when the air conditioner is running. Power from the air-conditioning transformer comes into the terminal labeled RC. The ball controlled by the mode switch jumps the current onto a trace that leads to the terminal in the lower-right corner of the circuit board.
This terminal connects to the top layer of the thermostat through a screw. It connects to the pink wire, which leads to the bottom wire in the mercury switch. If the switch is tilted to the right as it would be if the air conditioning were on , the current travels through the mercury into the blue wire. Through a screw , the blue wire see above connects to a lug in the lower-left corner of the circuit card.
Help!! adding 2nd thermostat to control furnace fan
This is the second transformer. What could be the problem? I have encountered this problem several times. In most cases the thermostat wires have shorted out somewhere and the thermostat wires are the problem.
Line voltage thermostats control electrical power to heating and cooling devices. The two basic types of line voltage thermostats are single-pole and double-pole units. Single-pole thermostats control volt electrical power. A double-pole thermostat can control either volts or volts.
Paul Suarez Karl, We updated this posting today in light of new information we recently received. We are truly sorry for the inconvenience. If you have any questions, please reach out to me directly. Karl Dieter Erdmann cadetheat: Nest thermostats have batteries so as long as you hook up the wires correctly they will work fine. Jimmy I think the RC T does not have the transformer like the and so you have to buy it separately to power the Nest.
What are the heater models you want to connect to this thermostat? What are the voltages and wattages of the heaters? Are they in the same room or area no door between the heaters?
